Idemili North Health workers undergo training on COVID-19 protocols for grassroots sensitisation

Ogidi (Idemili North LGA), June 20, 2020 (MOI) Some health workers in Idemili North Local Government Area (LGA) are currently undergoing training to enable them to be deployed to sensitise people of the area on reality of COVID-19 pandemic.

The training is ongoing at the Secretariat Hall.

A Social Mobilisation Officer, Idemili North LGA, one of the facilitators of the programme, Mrs Sabina Machube said that the training was aso holding across all LGs in the state.

She expressed surprise at people still doubting the reality of Coronavirus, saying that such people erroneously believe that the state government was using it as a means of enriching its coffers.

“Many Ndi Anambra are victims of the virus, but will not accept it but rather believe they are suffering from either malaria or typhoid fever.’’

Mrs Machube said that after the training, the health workers on reality of the disease and the preventive measures, they would be expected assist in taking the messages to the grassroots for their compliance.

The social mobilisation officer urged LG Information Officers to join in spreading the message of adhering to COVID-19 protocols to anyone they come in contact with.

Mrs Machube hailed Government for making the training programme a reality.

Another Facilitator, Mrs Chioma Okonkwo – a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (M&E) Idemili North LG, said that they were exemplary by organising the training under COVID-19 protocol.

“I took them through thermometer reading, social distancing and correct ways of wearing of face masks.

“Since are no fewer than 80; we made other halls available for use in order to ensure that each hall did not contain have than 20 persons at a time,’’ she explained. (MOI)
