Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Leeds Trinity University, Leeds, U.K., Prof. Charles Egbu has commended Anambra State Government over strides in development of the state.
This is contained in a letter expressing gratitude to Gov. Willie Obiano for rejoicing with him over his latest appointment: “I am pleased at the progress you and your government are making in Anambra State, pain what is very challenging times.I am immensely and singularly honoured by the Governor’s good wishes and kind remarks on my appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University, U.K.,’’
Prof. Egbu said he was privileged to be appointed into a position through which he would contribute in improving humanity through education, training and acquisition of requisite knowledge, skills and competences.
I understand the sense of duty that accompanies the position and I will do my utmost best in discharging my duties.’’Prof. Egbu, then, added that he was ready to contribute his own quota in developing the state when called upon.
I will avail myself, and indeed, will be greatly honoured to contribute, in any little way, if asked to do so, to the development of our state, Anambra, and our country, Nigeria.’’He, then, wished the governor and his administration well in the discharge of their duties.Prof. Charles Egbu hails from Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.He is the first black VC to have emerged from the Institution; he will be taking over from Prof. Margaret House, who will step down after seven years at the end of October.Prof. Egbu assumes duties on Nov. 1.
