President-General Akpo Development Association (ADA), Nze Henry C Dim has called on Ndi Anambra to be proactive toward erosion menace in the state.Nze Dim made the call while exchanging views with Information Officers, at his residence, Ogbo Village, Akpo, on Aug. 1.The PG said: “Anambra State Terrain is prone to erosion with not less than 900 erosion sites to handle. Government is already overwhelmed.

“We need to embrace preventive measures to reduce the rate at which gully erosion spring up in our state. So, willingly construct water tanks, large enough to accommodate water flowing out from your compound.
Do not wait for government to drive you into doing what is good to you and your loved ones.Do it in your personal interest and that of your community,’’ he advised.

If the velocity of water flowing into a water channel is reduced, we will have less problems with erosion. The velocity of water flow is determined by quantity of water coming out from our homes. Government is doing the best it can with regard to erosion-control.If we do not complement government’s efforts, willingly, not pouring debris into gutters, build houses away from water channels, clean gutters, we will have ourselves to blame,’’ PG observed.

He advocated for the planting of trees, especially within valleys. Trees offer multiple services to man.If you plant trees like cashew, oil bean, pears and bamboo trees others, it will not be long you start making money from them and our environment saved. It is common knowledge that eating fruits guarantee sound health. Let us assist government to saving our environment,’’ he said.
