NOA Awka South embarks on campaign for COVID-19 preventive measures

National Orientation Agency (NOA), Awka South LGA has embarked on COVID-19 preventive measures to curb spread of the virus.In a speech at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Amawbia, Assistant Director NOA, Mrs Nkechi Okafor explained the importance of proper donning of face masks to avoid picking up droplets from other people.Mrs Okafor listed other preventive measures to include washing of hands regularly with soap under running water, drinking of warm water regularly and regular use of hand sanitiser.

Others are self isolation if in contact with suspected COVID-19 patients, avoiding handshakes and hugs as well as avoiding coughing into their hands.She urged all to stop touching their eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands as well as avoiding crowded places.The assistant director noted that Awka South had been the epicenter in the spread of COVID-19 in Anambra, emphasising that renewed enlightenment was to urge Ndi Anambra to take responsibility in imbibing awareness of the pandemic.

She explained that total relaxation of lockdown and inter-state movement had increased the spread, urging all to take the precautionary measures seriously in containing the virus.Mrs Okafor commended St. Matthew’s parishioners for their compliance even as she praised their priests for encouraging total adherence, saying that the spread would be contained if others followed suit.She thanked the government at all levels for supporting the campaign to contain the spread of the virus, especially grassroots sensitisation.Accompanying her was Mrs Chinyere Chukwueze, Principal Executive Officer, NOA Awka South LGA.
