Commissioner for Transport, Mr Afam Mbanefo says henceforth every memo for procurement of items must pass through the procurement body in the ministry.
“The body comprises the Planning Research and Statistics Department, Accountant and Cashier of the Ministry for transparency and due processes,’’ Mr Mbanefo said.
He said this while receiving the members of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Procurement Act on a familiarisation visit to the Ministry.
He urged staff members of the Ministry to guide political appointees properly to enable them to achieve their mandates and perfect results in their jobs.
Chairman House Committee on Procurement Act, Mr Chuks Ezewune said that every ministry must observe stipulations of Procurement Act both at National and state levels to reduce waste of funds, promote transparency and de-emphasise corruption.
Mr Ezewune commended the commissioner for great efforts in achieving due processes in all activities of the Ministry within his few weeks stay on seat in his new office.
