Gov. Willie Obiano has congratulated Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of Niger and Bishop Diocese of Awka, Anglican Commission His Grace, the Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim on success of the 2020 Awka Diocesan Synod.The Synod was held at the All Saints Church, Amaudo, Awka between Aug. 5 and Aug. 8.Gov. Obiano was represented at the Synod by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, who delivered an address on his behalf.The Governor described the event as a huge success, in spite of restrictions posed by COVID-19 pandemic.
He commended the Bishop for ensuring that COVID-19 protocols were well observed throughout the Synod.The Governor urged the Church not to relent in praying for the state and the Government, especially in this pandemic period.Delivering the sermon, Bishop of Kwoyi Diocese, Kaduna, Rt. Rev. Paul Zamani told Christians to live lives of total submission to God.
He said that Christians need each other to succeed and survive, especially at this time of Coronavirus pandemic and religious crisis in some parts of northern states.Archbishop Ibezim assured the Governor that the Church would continue to pray for him and the state.There was a cutting of the Synod cake by the Archbishop, visiting Bishops and dignitaries at the service.
